There was only one story in town this morning in the world of Scottish football- except for BBC Scotland.

After sitting in denial a club statement early on Thursday afternoon announced that Ibrox wouldn’t be ready for the start of the 24/25 season with talks underway with the SPFL and UEFA over fixturing issues.

It is an incredible development, two months ago the same club was on a media assisted crusade against Dundee over some waterlogging issues at Dens Park. BBC Scotland were all over it.

This morning however the state broadcaster was in full North Korea mode, offering up other stories as their lead then downplaying and ling about the extent of the problems facing the club that Kenny Macintyre, Tom English, Neil McCann, Jane Lewis, Steven Thompson and Kenny Miller are so emotionally invested in.

Mediocre Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane will apparently be signed and have a work permit to start training at Murray Park on Monday while the bids pour in for Todd Cantwell, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.

On Monday morning Tavernier and Cantwell will be training with the serial losers at Murray Park, Goldson will be in the treatment room and Igamane will be speculated over in an attempt to deflect away from Ibrox not hosting football until October at the earliest.

Even their coverage of the Ibrox story is inaccurate. They report that ‘Ibrox is unlikely to be available for the start of the season’. FACTS! The club statement confirms that it WON’T be used with no timeline offered.

Most of the BBC Scotland Sports Department are currently out in Germany enjoying a jolly with generous expenses, funded entirely by the declining number of people paying the TV Licence.

Macintyre has been in his element day and night hanging around with his EBT mates McCann and Thompson getting great detail on the halycon days at Ibrox including the dressing room banter, boozy nights oot and tales of dignity involving the late Sir Walter Smith.
