On May 30th as the campaign for the 2024 big battle ended, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge sat flanked by Jairam Ramesh and K C Venugopal.
The big announcement of the big press conference was -- Kharge did not have a direct reply on whether he has a chance becoming India's first Dalit Prime Minister?
The second big announcement was Kharge saying June 1 meeting of INDI alliance leaders is 'informal' and to prepare ground on how to handle the counting day shocks !!
Oh boy, Jai-rahimlogy is bound to fail !!
Now comes the big claim, INDI alliance will form the next government. But Kharge spent more time making it clear that whatever he is today ... and whatever he got in political life -- it is Sonia Gandhiji's 'gift' and trust in him.

(Even factually Kharge was wrong when he claimed in UPA-2 also Sonia was offered/urged to lead the government. In 2019 polls, Dr Manmohan Singh was declared PM candidate of the Congress party.)
In between Congress played up another game today. They brought Dr Manmohan Singh into the electoral fray of 2024 and made him issue a statement -- quite at length and most of it flaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a letter to the people of Punjab, where Lok Sabha polls are set to be held on June 1, Manmohan Singh alleged that PM Modi indulged in the "most vicious form of hate speeches that are purely divisive in nature".
"He (Modi) has also attributed some false statements to me. I have never in my life singled out one community from the other. That is the sole copyright of the BJP," the former Prime Minister added.
But what about his own recorded video statement wherein he wants to favour minorities especially Muslims. (NDC meeting)
Of course if Dr Singh wanted to react, he should have done it immediately after Prime Minister Modi made the statement. Why wait for the last phase of polling and that too on the eve of polls in Punjab ?
This now obviously means - the Congress is heading for a virtual rout in Punjab. While the Congress and the AAP are allies in Delhi; they are strong rivals to each other in Punjab. The ultimate results on June 4 could help the BJP in 4-5 seats.
Dragging the aging Prime Minister to say something to the people of Punjab when Dr Singh is himself a Sikh -- only shows the parochial mindset of Congress leaders.
Now a sample of statements expected from Congress and other opposition leaders on and after June 4.
## EVM will be blamed of course; and Kharge himself gave a big indication about the same during May 30 press conference.

One reaction from Congress will be: "We are going to have a comprehensive analysis of our defeat right from the booth to the district and then to the state levels and also national level".
(May 30 press conference -- Kharge, Jairam and K C Venugopal -- sum up one story -- all three fall guys are from southern India and all three are Rajya Sabha products.
Jairam -- perhaps cannot dream of entering Lok Sabha ever as a member. One former Congress leader who joined BJP recently says -- Jairam cannot even college election. But Jai-rahimology thrives !!
Secondly, Kharge lost 2019 polls and K C Venugopal also lost in 2019 and is seeking a mandate yet again this time from his home state.
Real fun will be Congress reactions from Hindi-heartland leaders such as Digvijaya Singh, Sachin Pilot and Manish Tewari and of course the only man-with-ear on ground from West Bengal -- Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
He needs to return some compliments to "Kharge ji" !!
Of course, I can bank on my other predictions ---

A few veterans and tough nuts among Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot - who did not get AICC president in 2023 - may say:
"I always thought it was going to be tough and near impossible task to defeat Modi when we had no proper planning to fight BJP in the northeastern states".
