An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic nurse to join our team as a band 7 Acute oncology/CUP clinical nurse specialist. This post is a ideal opportunity for a skilled nurse looking to develop a specialist nursing career in Oncology.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Oncology MDT and other relevant member of the cancer team.
The post holder must have previous experience in cancer care and possess excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job
- Assess patients and plan, implement and evaluate care using specialist clinical knowledge and skills
- Review patients and provide care in inpatient, outpatient and day unit settings
- Contribute to multidisciplinary approach to patient management
- Provide education and support to patients, carers and colleagues
- Participate in audit, research and service development within the Oncology service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
.Perform assessment of patients nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.
- Coordinate care for a patient caseload providing specialist assessment, planning and evaluation.
- To support, assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management.
- Participate in consultations on and develop strategies for delivering effective care within a changing environment that improves the quality of care and health outcomes in the specialist area.
- Act as an innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance and advice to staff on operational and professional issues promoting an open and honest and transparent culture.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse (1st level +minimum Diploma)
- has / working towards degree in health related subject or equivalent
- Teaching and assessing qualification
- advanced communication skills

- Substantial post registration experience in cancer related area
