Profecía de Jacob acerca de sus hijos
49Y llamó Jacob a sus hijos, y dijo: Juntaos, y os declararé lo que os ha de acontecer en los días venideros.
2Juntaos y oíd, hijos de Jacob,
Y escuchad a vuestro padre Israel.
3Rubén, tú eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, y el principio de mi vigor;
Principal en dignidad, principal en poder.
4Impetuoso como las aguas, no serás el principal,
Por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre;
Entonces te envileciste, subiendo a mi estrado.
5Simeón y Leví son hermanos;
Armas de iniquidad sus armas.
6En su consejo no entre mi alma,
Ni mi espíritu se junte en su compañía.
Porque en su furor mataron hombres,
Y en su temeridad desjarretaron toros.
7Maldito su furor, que fue fiero;
Y su ira, que fue dura.
Yo los apartaré en Jacob,
Y los esparciré en Israel.
8Judá, te alabarán tus hermanos;
Tu mano en la cerviz de tus enemigos;
Los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán a ti.
9Cachorro de león, Judá;
De la presa subiste, hijo mío.
Se encorvó, se echó como león,
Así como león viejo: ¿quién lo despertará?(A)
10No será quitado el cetro de Judá,
Ni el legislador de entre sus pies,
Hasta que venga Siloh;
Y a él se congregarán los pueblos.
11Atando a la vid su pollino,
Y a la cepa el hijo de su asna,
Lavó en el vino su vestido,
Y en la sangre de uvas su manto.
12Sus ojos, rojos del vino,
Y sus dientes blancos de la leche.
13Zabulón en puertos de mar habitará;
Será para puerto de naves,
Y su límite hasta Sidón.
14Isacar, asno fuerte
Que se recuesta entre los apriscos;
15Y vio que el descanso era bueno, y que la tierra era deleitosa;
Y bajó su hombro para llevar,
Y sirvió en tributo.
16Dan juzgará a su pueblo,
Como una de las tribus de Israel.
17Será Dan serpiente junto al camino,
Víbora junto a la senda,
Que muerde los talones del caballo,
Y hace caer hacia atrás al jinete.
18Tu salvación esperé, oh Jehová.
19Gad, ejército lo acometerá;
Mas él acometerá al fin.
20El pan de Aser será substancioso,
Y él dará deleites al rey.
21Neftalí, cierva suelta,
Que pronunciará dichos hermosos.
22Rama fructífera es José,
Rama fructífera junto a una fuente,
Cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre el muro.
23Le causaron amargura,
Le asaetearon,
Y le aborrecieron los arqueros;
24Mas su arco se mantuvo poderoso,
Y los brazos de sus manos se fortalecieron
Por las manos del Fuerte de Jacob
(Por el nombre del Pastor, la Roca de Israel),
25Por el Dios de tu padre, el cual te ayudará,
Por el Dios Omnipotente, el cual te bendecirá
Con bendiciones de los cielos de arriba,
Con bendiciones del abismo que está abajo,
Con bendiciones de los pechos y del vientre.
26Las bendiciones de tu padre
Fueron mayores que las bendiciones de mis progenitores;
Hasta el término de los collados eternos
Serán sobre la cabeza de José,
Y sobre la frente del que fue apartado de entre sus hermanos.
27Benjamín es lobo arrebatador;
A la mañana comerá la presa,
Y a la tarde repartirá los despojos.
Muerte y sepelio de Jacob
28Todos estos fueron las doce tribus de Israel, y esto fue lo que su padre les dijo, al bendecirlos; a cada uno por su bendición los bendijo. 29Les mandó luego, y les dijo: Yo voy a ser reunido con mi pueblo. Sepultadme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el heteo, 30en la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, al oriente de Mamre en la tierra de Canaán, la cual compró Abraham con el mismo campo de Efrón el heteo, para heredad de sepultura.(B) 31Allí sepultaron a Abraham(C) y a Sara su mujer; allí sepultaron a Isaac(D) y a Rebeca su mujer; allí también sepulté yo a Lea. 32La compra del campo y de la cueva que está en él, fue de los hijos de Het. 33Y cuando acabó Jacob de dar mandamientos a sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama, y expiró,(E) y fue reunido con sus padres.

Jacob bendice a sus hijos
49Jacob ordenó a sus hijos que se reunieran, pues quería decirles lo que les pasaría en el futuro. Les dijo:
2«Hijos míos, vengan conmigo;
escuchen lo que voy a decirles.
3»Rubén, tú eres mi hijo mayor;
eres mi primer hijo,
la primera prueba de mi fuerza;
tienes el primer lugar de honor
y el primer lugar en poder.
4Pero me ofendiste gravemente,
pues te acostaste
con una de mis mujeres.
Por eso ya no serás el primero,
pues eres como el mar,
que no se puede controlar.
5»Simeón y Leví son como fieras
que atacan siempre con violencia.
6No quiero estar con ellos,
ni andar en su compañía,
porque en un arranque de enojo
mataron gente y despedazaron toros.
7¡Maldita sea su furia!
¡Maldita sea su crueldad!
Yo haré que se dispersen
por todo el territorio de Israel.
8»Tú, Judá, dominarás a tus enemigos;
tus hermanos te alabarán
y se inclinarán en tu presencia.
9Eres como un león feroz
que al regresar con su presa
se agacha y se echa en el suelo,
¿y quién se atreve a molestarlo?
10Siempre tendrás en tus manos
el cetro que te hace gobernante,
hasta que venga el verdadero rey
que gobernará a todo el mundo.
11-12Sus ojos
son más oscuros que el vino;
sus dientes
son más blancos que la leche.
Atará su burro,
a la mejor rama del viñedo,
y sin quitarse la ropa
se empapará en ríos de vino.
13»Tú, Zabulón,
vivirás a la orilla del mar;
tus costas servirán de puertos
y tus fronteras llegarán hasta Sidón.
14»Tú, Isacar,
eres fuerte como un burro
acostado entre dos corrales.
15Cuando veas que tu tierra
es buena y agradable para descansar,
con mucho gusto aceptarás
hacer trabajo de esclavos.
16»Y tú, Dan,
le harás justicia a tu pueblo,
pues eres de las tribus de Israel.
17Eres como una serpiente
que espera junto al camino:
cuando muerde las pezuñas del caballo,
el jinete se cae de espaldas.
18»¡Dios mío, sigo esperando tu ayuda!
19»A ti, Gad, te atacará
una banda de ladrones,
pero tú los atacarás
por donde menos lo esperen.
20»Y tú, Aser,
tendrás la mejor comida
y cocinarás los mejores platillos,
dignos de la mesa de un rey.
21»Tú, Neftalí, amas la libertad.
Eres como una venada suelta,
madre de hermosos venaditos.
22»Tú, José, pareces un caballo
criado junto a un manantial.
¡Saltas y trepas por el muro!
23Gente malvada y cruel
te ataca y te lanza flechas,
24pero tú mantienes firme tu arco
y no doblas tus fuertes brazos.
¡Gracias al Dios poderoso
que guía y protege a Israel!
25¡Gracias al Dios de tu padre,
que te brinda su ayuda!
¡Gracias al Dios que todo lo puede
y que siempre te bendice!
¡Con bendiciones del alto cielo!
¡Con bendiciones del mar profundo!
¡Con bendiciones a las madres
que tienen hijos y los alimentan!
26Son más grandes las bendiciones
que vienen de tu padre,
que las abundantes bendiciones
de los cerros y montañas eternas.
Todas estas bendiciones
te pertenecen a ti, José,
pues entre tus hermanos
tú eres el más importante.
27»Tú, Benjamín, eres un lobo feroz;
por la mañana devoras tu presa
y por la tarde repartes los restos.»
28Así bendijo Jacob a sus doce hijos. A cada una de las doce tribus de Israel le dio la bendición más apropiada.
Muerte de Jacob
29-31Después de bendecirlos, Jacob les dio las siguientes instrucciones:
«Ya me falta poco para morir. Por favor, entiérrenme en la tumba de mis antepasados. Me refiero a la cueva y al campo que Abraham le compró a Efrón el hitita para enterrar a su esposa Sara. Allí están enterrados Abraham e Isaac, y su esposa Rebeca, y allí también enterré a Lía. Esa cueva está en Canaán, en el campo de Macpelá, cerca del bosque Mamré. 32Tanto la cueva como el campo se los compramos a los hititas».
33Luego de darles estas instrucciones, Jacob se encogió en la cama y murió.
49And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
5Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.
19Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
22Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
27Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
31There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
32The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
